We just booked the flights to Amsterdam, based on the advice that NL has no COVID travel restrictions. But in looking at the NL government website, it appears there’s still an EU requirement for proof of vaccination. Can you shed any light on this?

    Hi Herb,

Keep clicking around on the Netherlands government website. I think you may have landed on the 'EU entry ban and exemptions' page. It can be a little confusing the way they have it organized.

'If you are a resident of a country that is not on the list of safe countries and fully vaccinated, you can be exempted from the EU entry ban by bringing proof of vaccination'.

However, Canada is on the list of safe countries, so we do not need to bring proof of vaccination for entry..

Try going to this page on the Netherlands government website.

Hey Herb (and any other "vaccine hesitant" people)... hope you're vaccinated before you think about traveling. Otherwise, stay home. Netherlands aren't doing as well as Canada is on the vaccination front - odds of getting Covid there is greater there than Canada currently.

    2. Proof of vaccination or negative test result required
    Until 8 August 2021
If you are coming from a country/region outside the EU/Schengen where the risk of contracting COVID-19 is low (a safe country) you do not need to show proof of vaccination or a negative test result until 8 August 2021.
